Taverne de l'Oratoire — Medieval Restaurant

Taverne de l'Oratoire is a medieval restaurant located at 23 rue de l'Oratoire, in the heart of Grasse's historic centre, in the Alpes-Maritimes. Founded by two passionate lovers of the Middle Ages and gastronomy, our tavern transports you to the authentic atmosphere of ancient taverns. Between stone walls, wood panelling and candlelight, savour traditional homemade French cuisine in a setting unique on the Côte d'Azur.

Our menu features dishes inspired by medieval recipes, prepared with fresh, local produce. The poularde with mustard and honey sauce is one of our most popular specialities. For drinks, our artisanal mead — a millennia-old beverage made from fermented honey — and our hypocras — a medieval spiced wine with cinnamon and ginger aromas — are exclusivities you will not find anywhere else in the region. Average main course price: €17 to €24.

From October to March, the Tavern hosts themed medieval evenings once a month: feasts, shows, period music and costumes. The Tavern can also be hired privately for your events: birthdays, weddings, seminars or corporate evenings. With 50 indoor seats and 20 on the terrace, we adapt our space to all your projects. We also offer an event catering service with medieval tableware.

We have a shaded terrace with twenty seats, in a quiet alley in the old town of Grasse. The restaurant is open every day, Sunday lunch included — handy for a family meal after a wander through the historic centre. Main courses run from €17 to €24, the set menu starts at €25. For a restaurant in central Grasse where everything is cooked from scratch, we think that's fair.

Whether you're coming from Plan de Grasse, Magagnosc or nearby towns (Mouans-Sartoux, Peymeinade, Saint-Vallier-de-Thiey), we're just a few minutes away by car. Parking Honoré Cresp is a 3-minute walk from the restaurant. For those driving from Cannes, Antibes, Mougins or Nice, Grasse is worth the trip — the heritage, the perfume factories, then a good dinner to round off the day. We often see people who visit the old town and the perfumeries during the day, then come to us for dinner.
