The Birth of a Dream
It all started with the meeting of two passionate souls. The first, an airline pilot, had always nurtured a unique dream: opening an authentic medieval tavern. The second, a medieval and fantasy enthusiast, shared this very same vision.
Their meeting gave birth to this unique project, a tavern where history comes alive with every meal, where every dish tells a legend and where every evening transports guests to another time.

The story of the only medieval restaurant in Grasse
Taverne de l'Oratoire was born from the meeting of two passionate people who shared a common dream: creating an authentic medieval restaurant in the heart of Grasse. The first, an airline pilot, had always nurtured this singular vision. The second, a medieval and fantasy enthusiast, saw the opportunity to bring his passion to life. Together, they opened the doors at 23 rue de l'Oratoire, in the heart of Grasse's historic centre, to offer a unique culinary and immersive experience on the Côte d'Azur.
The Tavern concept rests on three pillars: traditional homemade French cuisine, a meticulously recreated period setting and regular medieval entertainment. Every detail of the decor — wood, stone, candlelight, period tableware — has been designed to recreate the atmosphere of a Middle Ages tavern. Artisanal drinks like mead and hypocras complete this total immersion in a timeless world.
Grasse, classified as a City of Art and History and world capital of perfume, provides the ideal setting for this unique project. The medieval streets, cathedral and stone façades of the historic centre form a natural backdrop for our tavern.
